National Philanthropy Day is fast approaching. National Philanthropy Day is a day to celebrate charitable activities, in the form of donated financial, in-kind and volunteering support. National Philanthropy Day acknowledges the entire spectrum of services that the non-profit and civic and service sectors provide, as well as the profound impact that philanthropy has on the fabric of society.
Thank you to WUCF-TV for donating the taping for the video recognition of honorees at National Philanthropy Day and I had the honor of interview Emerging Leader Honorees Rebecca Leininger, Melody Lynch and Beth Smith. This honor is presented to individuals between the ages of 19 and 40 who are making an exceptional impact in the independent sector.
Rebecca Leininger is being honored for her leadership as Director of Business & Resource Development with Community Based Care of Central Florida, Inc, in addition to her service at the Women’s Residential Counseling Center (WRCC), part of the Coalition for the Homeless.
Melody Lynch, a Shareholder with Lowndes Drosdick, is being honored for her work as a Guardian Ad Litem and Board Member service with Children’s Home Society.
Beth Smith, Community Relations Manager at Orlando Health, is being honored for her leadership as a board member for Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, Downtown Orlando Partnership, UCF Alumni Association, and the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce.
The National Philanthropy Day event will be held at the Ritz- Carlton Grand Lakes, Orlando, Florida and benefits the Association of Fundraising Professionals Central Florida Chapter. The Association of Fundraising Professionals empowers individuals and organizations to practice ethical fundraising through professional education, networking, research and advocacy.
